HEKKA is a piano/bass/drums unit that seeks to subvert its own loaded parameters. By marrying the live intensity and virtuosity of the piano trio with a vibrant electronic approach, the unique ensemble asserts themselves as "one of the most exciting young groups to emerge from Sydney in many years". Drawing from their collective love of electronic, jazz, classical and rock music, the trio - comprising Novak Manojlovic, Jacques Emery and Tully Ryan - moves effortlessly across melody, minimalism, composition and improvisation to generate a sound which is iconoclastic, unpredictable and entirely modernistic.
After releasing their debut EP 'wrecker' in 2018 to cult acclaim and playing a slew of shows on Australia's east coast at such esteemed venues as Sydney Opera House and Phoenix Central Park, HEKKA established themselves as one of the country’s best live instrumental acts. 2023 sees HEKKA release their debut record 'Everywhere I Go My Body Goes With Me' - a multi-faceted and idiomatic salvo which marries driving rock aesthetics, meditative sonic landscapes and fluttering electronics, culminating in a work which stands at the forefront of the pantheon of contemporary instrumental music.

This album is one weird masterpiece. Killed my turntable needle a while ago and looked for music to fill the spot - blueblue did. A unique, dreamy, foggy weird journey into contemporary jazz. Love it since the first time listening! StrangeFlow

Great album! A crossover jazz-r'nb-african trip from continent to continent. London does it again. Nyubian Twist with more jazz overtones. John Woodward
